Cabin Fever

John and I have been stuck inside the house for about two weeks. Needless to say we are both on edge and need to get out of the house. I had the great idea to get Nana and take the boys to the train by the zoo. It was Friday so I knew the zoo would be packed so I just wanted to ride the train and feed the ducks. The boys were so excited and gave me no issues about getting ready and getting in the car.
My little man 3 days after having his tonsils and adenoids out. I will say he has been medicated since Tuesday and it was chilly outside!

Nana and Brandon, right now Brandon says Nana's name all day... he just learned to say it!
The birds were more interested than the ducks... the boys loved it

John has not had much of a great appetite but he ate all the bread instead of feeding the ducks and birds!
My big man
We are now fighting to get the boys back on a normal schedule since being sick and John having surgery. They don't want to eat in their seats, they want to snack on junk food and watch lots of videos and only want juice. Brandon is doing well now since he got to go back to school but when John gets something he wants it too. John however is proving to be very persistent about watching videos. Today after only and hour nap for both boys, John cried and screamed for about 30 minutes because we would not turn the tv on. I felt so bad because I know his throat has to hurt!! Needless to say we spent a lot of time outside today. Praise God it was a nice day!!!!

John Garrison Synnott

Tuesday was not a bad day!
My mom took Brandon to MDO and he did really awesome without his brother for the first time. Asked for him a couple times but overall did really well!!!
Brian and I took John to Texas Children's at 8:30am for his surgery at 10:30... he was done with surgery and we were in recovery by 10:30am! He did so great and Mommy and Daddy were so proud of their little boy. He slept in our arms for about two hours after surgery and woke up around 12:30ish. The only thing was he would not drink much so we had to hang around to see if he would have to stay the night at the hospital or able to go home. He finally started drinking a little and be bribed him a lot with videos. We would let him watch something, pause it and make him take a sip of juice. It was pretty funny but it worked and by 3:45 we were on the way home. Cindy went to pick Brandon up from MDO and kept him for the afternoon (it was after all a beautiful day). My mom, Brian, John and I went home and got John all situated and Brian went over to his moms to help with Brandon, since this is the first time the boys have ever been apart. Brian said he did great! John did really well up until about 10:30pm, grated he has Tylenol with codeine in his system! Around 10:30pm he started to do his usual night routine, waking up every thirty minutes to an hour...thankfully my mom was here to help me out. I pray that with this surgery and a lot of patience on mommy and daddy's part, we can get John to sleep through the night again. Today Cindy is taking care of Brandon for the day, letting him get some energy out while my mom and I look after John. We are watching videos, letting him eat anything he wants and trying to make him drink juice. He gets a little wired with the meds so it has been fun watching him run around the house! Hopefully everything from here on just gets BETTER!

Night before surgery

John has surgery tomorrow at 10:30am at Texas Childrens to get his tonsils and adenoids out. He loves pizza so we went to Chuck-E-Cheese tonight to have a little fun.

recovery

We are all finally feeling 100%
While we were recovering this is what we did.... painted, colored and watched videos!

Sickies

This last week has been a trying one. On Saturday as I had said in the last post, John didn't feel well and it just got worse. Sunday he still was sick and Brandon was getting sick. You could just tell that we were in for a bad week. The worse thing was I was feeling bad and Brian was leaving for Lake Tahoe for a skiing trip. i had my mom come over Sunday night to help me out, the boys were fussy and John had a fever (it got up to 102.5) and Brandon was running around like a crazy person from being cooped up for so long. Well I woke up Monday morning (praise the Lord John slept through the night) feeling really bad. Got my mom to come over so I could go to the doctor and low and behold I had strep throat. I call Brian in Tahoe and he had lost his voice and had some congestion. So I knew Brian had to take the boys to the doctor. Cindy (aka Nana) and my mom (aka Jojo) took the boys to the after hours clinic and can you believe this... John has an ear infection. FIRST ONE EVER FOR EITHER BOY! Brandon has a sinus infection. So we are all sick. I went ahead and told mom to go home Monday night and i could deal with the boys. Well John decided to wake up seven times that night. He ended up in bed with me (again, the first time ever). Tuesday they were still very fussy and Cindy came over and hung out with us and helped out with the boys and spend the night so I could get some rest but of course John slept through the night!! Today, we are all doing a little better. I feel good as long as I have meds in me. Brandon has his appetite back but is still being very lazy which is not normal for him (he also lost 8oz. this week) and John is being very clingy and fussy, cries over anything and only wants to be with me and watch videos (he lost a pound this week).
I am exhausted and am ready for Brian to get home (he called and is feeling 100%). The boys and I are at about 50-60% but they are going to school tomorrow to get out of the house since we have been inside for 5 days straight! We are all on antibiotics and hopefully will be well by the weekend.
John is still scheduled for surgery Tuesday so we will be doing the clingy, video, and crying thing next week too. But at least it will only be one kiddo! Next we embark on Brandon going to school and being alone at night with out his brother by his side. Should be interesting!

Sesame Street Live

Even though the boys are under the weather we took them to see Sesame Street Live. (Brandon is feeling better, John however is another story and has a fever. The problem with that is if we give him anything other then Tylenol he can not get his surgery so we are having a rough go of it right now.) John however LOVED the show, didn't act sick at all and danced and clapped and laughed. Brandon was a little reluctant at first but got into it and saying MORE all the time. I promise we were good parents and no one got around the boys and we left early to avoid crowds!
