Surprise

It was a complete surprise that the boys have done so amazing with their sippy cups. NO BOTTLES during the day.... can you believe it. Only one real day of transition is all it took. Both are doing great with with drinking from a straw and eating more. We are still doing a night bottle but that is totally cool! I am so proud of my little guys. It is so fun that our schedule is so much more flexible now.

Haircuts

I did not get too many pictures because for part of the time I was holding or distracting the boys!!!

Here is Brandon's before photo: 2nd haircut

Here is the after photos of Brandon:

John 1st haircut... before photo:

He did not like getting his haircut at all!

The after photos of John

They seem so grown up now! Where has the time gone? I really can not believe in less than 10 days the twins will be ONE!

Merry Christmas

Not the best picture of our Christmas cards.... but it works

Day 3 Transition

The night of day 2 was interesting. We decided to try about 5 ounces of milk in their bottle for the night feeding and Brandon did great. John drank it all and woke up an hour later wanting more. So I know that he is not ready to give that feeding up.
Day three: Did GREAT! They are drinking about 4 ounces of milk through their sippy cups each time (three times a day) and eating good too. I wish John ate a little more but I just think he is picky and not going to be a piggy like his brother. Last night was interesting though.... we gave them 8 ounces in their bottle and they both only took around 5-6 ounces but they seemed not to want their bottle. They were squirmy and wanted breaks. That really has never been an issue so I am not sure if they would rather have a sippy cup at night too.
My only worry now is that they are not getting enough milk throughout the day. I know they will catch on and drink more as they just started doing this but I am giving them yogurt and cheese and so on. Thank you all for your prayers and advice!

Day 2 Transition!

Today has been so amazing that I know only God could do this!
the boys woke up at 7:30 and both had yogurt and waffles and a SIPPY CUP. They both had about 3/4 of it!!!! They played and took a great nap and then my mom came over and we went to meet up with my brother for lunch. The boys had mexican food and their sippy cup for lunch. Slept on the way back home and then had a snack at 4pm with a sippy cup! NO BOTTLE! Praise the Lord. Please pray it stays this way. We will have pasta for dinner and give them a bath and a night bottle. We might try a night sippy cup. It has just been a good day transition wise.

Transition

Bubye FORMULA!!!

Today was our first day to transition the boys to sippy cups. Brandon is totally ready but John is not. Brian let me sleep in this morning so he fed them 100% milk in a bottle with their breakfast. Then they played and went down for a nap. Brian went out for a bit and when they woke up around 1o:30am I gave them a sippy cup of milk and they did great. We are trying to give them milk before lunch so they would not fill up on it at noon and not eat. We fed them lunch and they had water until they went to bed around 2pm. Brandon woke up around 3:30 and we gave him his sippy cup with milk and he was fine. John woke up at 4pm and would not have any of it. he cried till 4:3o until we gave in and gave him his bottle and he took it right away, the full bottle! We will still give them a night bottle until they are both fully transitioned during the day before we battle with them over that.

So all in all it was not too bad. Brandon seems good to go if we help him remember he has milk in his sippy cup. John will be a challenge. I knew it was not going to be a breeze but I was hoping. Tomorrow is a new day and a new chance to work on it. 1 out of 2 is pretty good! Please pray for Brandon to keep with it and for John to understand and not fight it! Also, please pray for Brian and I to relax and know this will take time.... especially me!

Our Schedule:

breakfast and sippy of milk when they wake up

sippy after morning nap

lunch

sippy after afternoon nap

dinner

night bottle with milk (will go away)

Now I guess this schedule is for Brandon with a sippy cup and John with a bottle till he is ready. We will try everyday with a sippy with him but the crying is so sad! I wanted to go cold turkey but John just isnt having it! We shall see
Till tomorrow......

Some changes

We are starting some changes in the Synnott household. We are trying to get rid of formula, night bottles, brushing the twins teeth and so on! In doing so I have NO CLUE what I am doing. So what do you all think of the schedule?

As of now:
Wake up: 7:30ish and have morning bottle with 4 ounces of formula and 4 ounces of whole milk.
8am - breakfast
9:45-10am- morning nap
noon- bottle with 4 ounces of formula and 4 ounces of whole milk, lunch
2pm- afternoon nap
4pm- bottle with 4 ounces of formula and 4 ounces of whole milk
5:30- 6ish- dinner
**water in sippy cups throughout the day**
7pm- bath and try and brush teeth
7:15ish-8pm- night bottle with 4 ounces of formula and 4 ounces of whole milk then bed.

The transition to whole milk is our first change. I am doing half and half in bottle this week just to see how their tummies take. They seem to be doing great.

The second change is brushing teeth. John has 7 teeth and Brandon 6 teeth so I know we need to be cleaning them. Brandon seemed to do ok with it, John NOT!

Now here is where it gets a little hard for me. I am going to go cold turkey next week with just giving them sippy cups of whole milk at each meal and water, juice and snacks throughout the day. How do I get rid of the night bottle? I am really struggling with the fact that they are so use to the routine and how they get a night bottle and go straight to sleep. What do we do now?

So once I figure that out this will be the routine (what do yall think)
wake-up- breakfast with sippy cup of whole milk
nap at 10am
noon- lunch with sippy cup of whole milk
nap at 2pm
snack when they wake up with apple water (apple juice cut with water)
5:30-6ish- dinner with sippy cup of whole milk
7pm- bath and brush teeth
then..... I DONT KNOW, bed time is a mystery to me!

Can not believe it's December

Our Christmas Stockings

The entry table
Garland on the staircase
My Christmas Tree (it does light up)
Brian's Christmas Tree (sorry for the poor quality picture)

My first post in December... I am such a slacker! Sorry I have not been around.

After the boys got over the nasty diaper virus they ended up getting a runny nose and a wet cough. So needless to say we are still on the mend. We have been staying at home playing but getting cabin fever pretty bad. That is my reason behind not posting. By the time the boys get to bed Brian and I are so tired we just want to catch up on some things around the house and hit the sack. I do have to say that the house is now decorated for Christmas, thanks to my mom! She came over this week and decided that the house need an uplift. We are not putting up a tree this year because the boys are in everything... and I mean everything. Brian and I find them in places I never thought they would go. John shuts doors behind him and Brandon opens anything he can. Today Brian found Brandon in the pantry pushing can foods of the shelves. I found John crying because he shut himself in our bedroom alone. Our CRAZY kids. I think sometime this weekend or next week we will take the boys to see Santa. They are both having some major separation anxiety so that trip will be so fun! The boys are both getting their haircut with daddy on the 16th. They both look so unkempt and it is driving me nuts. We are also getting ready for their birthday party. I can not believe that they will be one this month. I just don't know where the time has gone and it makes me happy and sad that they are going to be toddlers soon. We are doing a Cat In The Hat theme. Brian and I have hats and Brandon and John have shirts that say Thing 1 and Thing 2 with their names on them. Brandon is Thing 1 because he was born first... yes it was only 30 seconds but it was the easiest and fairest way to choose when they ask me about it in 20 years ;-) I will make them vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and for the guests, they will get cupcakes. I am leaving the food and drink up to Brian to figure out. On another note, the boys will be trying milk for the first time this coming week. I think the plan is to try half and half in a bottle for a couple of days to see how they react and they go cold turkey and just go total milk in sippy cups. I have to say that in the past week John has started to drink more out of his sippy cup so we will see how it goes. I am super excited yet so nervous about it. I really want them to be only on milk by their birthday. Wish us luck. Ok, so I have rambled enough about nothing. Hopefully soon I can post some good pictures or cute stories about the boys! SEE YA
