Poor little guy

So we thought our little Brandon might have an ear infection. He started putting his hand up near his ear and then started rubbing his fist in his ear and making really red. He has been pretty fussy the past 3-4 days. So daddy took him to the pedi this morning and of course his ears look "great". They said it looks like the early stages of teething. They say this because how he is chewing on everything! So who really knows what is happening but I feel so bad for the little guy.

Random

So this is my splint. I am "suppose" to wear it all day and night except for when I shower and when I ice my wrist. As you can see it immobilizes my thumb and that would be fine but I have babies!!! Try changing a dirty diaper or burp a baby with a splint on. It is such a hassle. I can not do anything with my left hand. Glad that I am right handed :-) I go to therapy twice a week for ultrasound therapy.... who knows what that means. Anyhow, I just wanted to show what the new addition to my life looks like.

Brandon and John are 5 months tomorrow!!!

Things that are happening....

Both boys are eating 1st foods. They really like applesauce and seem to like oatmeal a lot better that rice cereal. They seem to still tolerate prunes every other day. We just tried peaches and it did not go so well. We will try again tomorrow but if they act the same way peaches are out of their diet for awhile.

John is so interactive and loves the jumper and just screams and laughs and plays with you. He is a very focused little guy!

Brandon is our quiet little man still but loves to stand and put anything he can get a hold of in his mouth. He just loves to be cuddled!

It happened!!

The boys slept from 8:15pm to 7:15am.

I don't know if it was a fluke or not but we are going to start weaning the middle of the night feed since I know they can do it. They usually wake up at 4am but now I am not going to give them much in their bottle and before long I won't give them a bottle!

The boys went and saw a GI today and did great. They didn't cry or anything while being examed! Brandon is now a whopping 16 pounds 7 ounces and John is 15 pounds 8 ounces. They are now on Lactulose 10 ml twice a day. We can stop karo and keep doing prunes if we want. Also they said stop rice cereal and get on oatmeal! They want to see them in 4 weeks to make sure things are moving along. They think this is just caused my prematurity!

In other news, we are truly starting 1st foods Friday. I think we will start with applesauce! So we will do prunes at noon and oatmeal and applesauce at 4 pm. We do not want to feed them at 8am until they sleep through the night because they don't take a great bottle at 8am if they woke up at 5am to eat. Once they sleep through the night we will do oatmeal and a fruit in the morning, veggie and fruit at lunch and oatmeal and veggie at dinner.

Am I rambling??? I feel like it so here is a video of Brandon in the new jumper toy!

The boys are doing well. We have had poopy diapers twice in three days! That is really good for them. We are keeping the GI appointment because we are still using tricks to help them have a BM.

As for me I have DeQuenvain's Tenosynovitis.... fancy word for my tendons being inflames from my thumb to my wrist! It really really hurts and I got a cortisone shot and have to do therapy twice a week for 6 weeks!

Finally

I ask for all this advice for the boys how to help them have a BM.... I call to get an appointment with a pedi GI and what happens:

POOPY DIAPERS for both boys.

We are giving John prunes and prune apple juice. He does not eat cereal and food very well so we added the juice. Brandon however loves eating so he is just getting prunes. This is the biggest diapers I have ever seen them have and I am glad they were able to have a BM. I pray and hope you pray along with me for this to continue. We have had a great weekend at the lake and I will post pics soon!
