The boys are driving me crazy.... not because they are being bad or anything but I just can not figure them out! Since Monday Brandon has taken his first nap around 9:45 and sleeps till about 10:30 or like today 11am John has been falling asleep at 10 and sleeping till noon or like today 11:15am. It use to be where they would also take an afternoon nap and go back down around 1:45-2pm and sleeps till 3:30ish.The problem is neither one of them want to take an afternoon nap. They just play in their cribs or cry. I can not seem to get them to go to sleep then they are either clingy or fussy around 6pm. They go to bed around 7:30pm and wake up anywhere between 6:30 and 7:15am. Should they be on a one nap schedule because if so I really think I am going to go crazy!!
Also look what came in the mail yesterday!

How cute!!
I don't think they need to be on one nap a day..my boys didn't drop from 2 to 1 till 15 m/o. I do remember them changing and wanting to go down later in the morning..usually around 10:30 for us. Hang in there and just keep reading their cues.
I think it's a phase... Kendra is doing the SAME thing. I have just been going up and checking on her every 15 minutes and otherwise letting her cry herself to sleep. The other day she cried/played for 45 minutes! Hopefully they will move out of it soon. I think the teething and cognitive development issues keep them awake around 9 months, I read that somewhere...
Ansley went back and forth like that too. She didn't drop down to one officially until 17 months. It's probably just teething or the weather or they are just being weird. :)
SO CUTE!!! This makes me ready for Christmas!
The naps will even out soon! You kind of have to hunker down in your home through this short season, but you can do it!
Babywise says that the parent chooses naptime, so stay consistent and the boys will submit. If you can, make naptime the same time everyday, and if they talk for most of it, so be it, but they had their chance. Eventually they will catch on. Another option is to put them in different rooms for nap. Micah was consistently waking up after 45 min and would wake Maggie and they would both be cranky because that's not a long enough nap. I've separated them now and he still wakes up, but goes back to sleep after 5 min or so and they get a good hour and a half nap.
Stick with 2 naps - they need it. Good naps, contrary to common belief, actually HELP them sleep better at night. Overtired babies can have a hard time falling asleep. Also, have you tried moving bedtime to 7pm? Mine go down at 7pm and get up at 7am. At this age they should easily sleep 12 hour stretches at night.
Hope that helps!
