I really don't know what to do about John right now. I am so frustrated, not at him, just about the situation. For some reason the day after we started table food he has refused to eat. He will take his bottle, all 8 ounces but then will not take any table food. Yesterday all he would take were puffs and cheerios and today he would not even take that. The funny thing is we were sitting down to eat dinner last night and I gave him some pasta and he ate it. He will not take anything that has a slimy texture and does not want you to help him eat. I just don't know how to handle it and how to get him to eat a balanced diet. Brandon however will eat anything!

It may be b/c he's feeling sick or even cutting teeth! I know I don't really have an appetite when I'm punie (sp?)...
I just went for my girls 9 month check-up and she said, I know ALL doc's are different, but she should be still eating 20-24 oz's of formula and baby food/table food is just "extra." That the formula is thier main source of nutrition for the first year... Take it with a grain of salt, b/c you have differing opinions from EVERYONE.. Just follow thier cues and your heart and try to enjoy it as much as you can! I'm the type of mom who DOESN'T WANT HER TO GROW UP! It make me so sad, that I'M DREADING starting table food and will put it off as long as I can!! ;-)
He will do this for the first few days. Textures are new for babies. Preston took about a week before he would really eat the things Lily was eating. As long as they are still drinking formula and don't show signs of being hungry that's all that matters.
Yep :) ditto what Double th Blessing said. Just keep trying different things, and the same things. It can take them up to 12 times to accept a food. He'll get the hang if it eventually. One thing I've found with Brityn is if it's something she isn't keen on eating she WILL eat it if it's off of my plate and I'm eating it myself.
ditto "double the blessing"
just keep with it. remember all they really need the first year is their bm or formula. just keep offering him the food..he'll get it
We've had many major feeding issues with Andrew and one tip the specialists said was to offer solid foods first and then milk/formula afterwards to follow it up/top them off. If you give him the milk first then he's probably too full to really be interested in the solids.
Hang in there!
Just don't give in to him and give him only what he likes. You offer well rounded meals, when he's hungry he will eat. Unless he has medical problems, do not worry about it.
Hi Court! Sorry to hear of your frustration, and I hope that things are better. I'm having trouble with table food with Levi. He just doesn't like new textures. He only likes the fact that he can put food in his mouth by himself, but once that gets old he will just start spitting food out and picking it back up. I try not to stress over it and just keep trying new things along with the regular stuff in hopes he will get used to it. And as long as he's getting his formula, he's fine. Best wishes to you! :) Keep us posted on how things go!
